Nestled between mountains and sea Hermanus IS the perfect place for a holiday. Since its inception it has become known as "The Riviera of the South", "Whale Watching Capital of South Africa" and famous for its "Champagne Air".
Today you will find it's natural beauty is still as inspiring as Hermanus Pieters found it, but now holiday makers can find far more adventure and activity to fill their days. There is something for everyone in Hermanus - paragliding, whale watching, abseiling, golfing, hiking, boating, sunbathing, shopping, bird watching, surfing and a multitude of other activities.
Even if you feel like doing absolutely nothing you will find all the creature comforts you need for an absolutely relaxing and rejuvenating holiday - from massages to outstanding food and balmy days.
Walk up Hoy's Koppie
Named after Sir William Hoy, now part of Fernkloof Nature Reserve, this hill is in the middle of the village and a well-made path and steps afford easy access to the top where Sir William Hoy and his wife are buried. Splendid views of the village spread out below make visiting definitely worthwhile.
Drive up Rotary Way
Scenic drive with panoramic views across Hermanus & Walker Bay.
Paragliding from the mountain
Paragliding is excellent off the top of the mountains on Rotary Way.
New Harbour
Watching fishing trawlers unloading their catches can be a fascinating experience. The well-stocked fish shop has a variety of fish and life crayfish, oysters and mussels.
Old Harbour
Painted by artists from many different angles, the Old Harbour was and remains the focal point of village life. The clifftop entrance to the harbour allows visitors a panoramic view of the entire Walker Bay, while the whales breach or laze in the seas below.
